The previous chapter discussed how
to install OpenLDAP and provided an overview of the
slapd configuration file,
slapd.conf. However, we have yet to launch the
server, let alone add any data to the directory. Using the
slapd.conf from Chapter 3 as
a starting point, this chapter shows you how to create a company
directory for storing employee contact information, including
postal addresses, email addresses, and phone numbers.
