Adding interactive elements With InDesign, a hyperlink can be created from either text or a graphic in the document to a hyperlink destination, which, in the simplest case, is just another page in the same documentmuch like the hyperlinks on Web pages. These hyperlinks can later be included when the document is exported as a PDF file. When viewed in Acrobat, clicking the hyperlink will let the reader jump to the page defined as a hyperlink destination.2, which might contain the table of contents that needs to be referred to repeatedly throughout the presentation. Covering an area with a graphic frame, making the frame itself invisible, and then associating a hyperlink with that frame makes a clickable area.
1. | Choose the Rectangle Frame tool and draw a rectangle around the Basics logo; the rectangle defines the clickable area.2 as the page number of the Destination. You may want to give the hyperlink a distinctive name, although most of the time, hyperlinks will not be searched for by name. Instead, selecting a design element on a page will automatically highlight the corresponding hyperlinkif anyin the Hyperlinks palette. Don't forget to select Invisible Rectangle from the Appearance Type pop-up menu. Click OK. NoteInDesign lets you insert sound, video, and other multimedia into what would otherwise be a static presentation. Placing a QuickTime movie in InDesign is as easy as placing a graphic.
