To have a better view of the relatively small document, zoom in to about 200%, using either the Zoom tool from the toolbox, or by selecting 200% from the magnification menu at the lower left corner of the document window.

Choose File > Place.

Note that the Place dialog box opens up in the Adobe Dialog version the way you left the Open a File dialog box in the previous section, with the list of Favorites on the left. Navigate to and open the Lesson01 folder, inside the CS2CIB Lessons folder.

Select the Show Import Options check box in the lower part of the Place dialog box. This will bring up an additional dialog boxafter clicking Open in the Place dialog boxwhere (amongst other things) you can specify how to crop the placed artwork.

Select the basics logo.ai Illustrator file in the Lesson01 folder, and click Open. (See illustration on next page.)

In the resulting Place PDF dialog box, select Crop to Crop and turn on Transparent Background under Options in the General panel.

Click OK.

The pointer takes the shape of a loaded graphics icon. Click anywhere in the top left part of the business card to place the Illustrator artwork.
