Leading

Leading, or the space between lines in a paragraph, is treated by InDesign as a character format via the Character pane or Control palette, even though it's traditionally an attribute of the paragraph. However, you can override InDesign's character-oriented approach so it works like all other layout programs. To ensure that leading changes affect entire paragraphs, check the Apply Leading to Entire Paragraphs option in the Text pane of the Preferences dialog box (choose InDesign Preferences on the Mac or Edit Preferences in Windows, or press z+K or Ctrl+K).
