Chapter 3

A1:

Two methods are available: the DB2 Setup Wizard and Silent install.

A2:

Four methods are available: the DB2 Setup wizard, Silent install, the

db2_install script, and the operating system's native install tools.

A3:

The default instance name is

db2inst1 . The user owner ID

db2inst1 is created as well. If

db2inst1 already exists, DB2 will try

db2inst2, db2inst3 , and so on.

A4:

An alternate FixPak contains all fixes, as does a regular FixPak, but the fixes are built into the product. Moreover, it is installed under a different directory, so DB2 treats it as a different product. This way you can have different DB2 FixPak levels for the same version on the same computer.

A5:

By default, three logs are generated under the /tmp directory: db2setup.his, db2setup.log, and db2setup.err. To redirect the logs to a different location, run the

db2setup program with the

l option.

A6:

By default, two logs are generated under the My Documents\DB2LOG directory: db2.log and db2wi.log. To redirect them to a different location, run the

setup program (from the DB2 installation media) with the

l option.

A7:

DB2ADMNS and DB2USERS.

A8:

You need to run the

db2iupdt command for all of your DB2 instances after you install a DB2 FixPak to update the instance with the new libraries and to update the logical links to the installed libraries.

A9:

The following user rights are granted to the instance owner:

  • Act as part of the operating system

  • Debug programs

  • Create token objects

  • Increase quotas

  • Lock pages in memory

  • Log on as a service

  • Replace a process-level token

A10:

The user who is installing DB2 must have Local Administrator authority. If you want to have the DB2 Setup Wizard create a domain user account for the Instance owner or the DAS user, the installation ID must have the authority to create domain user accounts.

A11:

B . The DB2 Setup Wizard and the Silent install are the only two methods available on Windows.

A12:

C . A response file is a text file containing all the options to be used during the install process. Use this file as input during a silent install.

A13:

C . 50000 is the default

A14:

D . You need root authority.

A15:

A . The DAS User ID.

A16:

B . The db2_install script is not a valid method of installation on Windows.

A17:

C . The db2_install script.

A18:

A. db2setup r

response_file

A19:

D . The db2_install script.

A20:

B . Using a response file so you install DB2 interactively only once, and save the responses in a response file that you later use to install DB2 on the other machines.
