Synopsis
document.URLDescription
URL
is a read-only string property that contains the complete URL of the
current document.
document.URL is usually
equal to
window.location.href
for the window that contains
document. These two are not always equal,
however, because the Document.URL property may be
modified through URL
redirection -- Window.location contains the
requested URL, and Document.URL specifies the
actual URL where it was found.
Usage
Some web authors like to include the URL of a document somewhere
within the document so, for example, if the document is
cut-and-pasted to a file or printed out, there is still a reference
to its location online. The following script, when appended to a
document, automatically adds the document's URL:
<script>
document.write('<p><hr><small><i>URL: ' + document.URL
+ '</i></small>');
</script>

This fourth edition of the definitive reference to
JavaScript, a scripting language that can be embedded
directly in web pages, covers the latest version of the
language, JavaScript 1.5, as supported by Netscape 6 and
Internet Explorer 6. The book also provides complete
coverage of the W3C DOM standard (Level 1 and Level 2),
while retaining material on the legacy Level 0 DOM for
backward compatibility.
