About the Author

For a few years, Jen deHaan has been in transit. In pursuit of the perfect toque, she has moved from Calgary to Vancouver to Toronto to Calgary, and will soon (as of late 2004) find a permanent home in San Francisco. The only thing she'll miss about this life is her Tim Hortons coffee. We doubt that she'll find that toque.

Along the way, Jen has met some interesting characters, faced memorable experiences, put in a lot of miles on a small rickety car, and written a stack of literature on Flash (if you can call it literatureit really isn't). Her first experience working for Macromedia Press (the publisher of this book) was writing the uber-tutorial called Flash MX 2004 Training from the Source, which taught her the meaning of long hours and hard work for a good reason/cause. Jen has also written books for Sybex and Wiley (on more than one occasion) and other books for assorted publishers. Some of her favorite writing experiences were for the Macromedia Developer Center (aka DevNet), and helping with a recent Flash documentation update.

Jen is a 'deseloper' (designer/developer), and is an enthusiastic Zack Morris fan. Jen thinks the Domo Kun is extremely cool, and plans to befriend the person who mails her one.
