Moving On
Even if you don't have a background in drawing, hopefully you now understand how easy it is to create a character using Flash. The shape tools and some creativity or imagination can get you started with character animation regardless of your experience in art and drawing. One of the best ways to experiment with this project is to create a wildly different character, your own creation, and animate it in a different way. Perhaps you want to create a character in Illustrator, and use the blend feature to create a series of symbols that you can use to animate the character. Or you might continue creating a character only using shape tools such as the Rectangle, Oval, and Line tools in Flash. Either way, you now have the basic skills to animate your own characters using Flash and put them online. The advantage of loading an animation into a loader SWF file is that you will find it easy to manipulate what the animation "player" looks like. Try adding creative content to the loader.fla document. Try adding a square with a mostly transparent gradient over the loaderClip instance. This way, it looks like your animation plays in a screen. You might try modifying the graphics around the "frame" to enhance the animation as well. Usually it's easier and more efficient to edit the loader SWF instead of the actual animation.
