Mac OS X Split-Half Search Techniques
The following are split-half search techniques:
- Start in single-user mode by pressing Command-S during startup
- Perform a Safe Boot by pressing Shift during startup
- Suppress automatic login during startup by pressing Shift when the progress bar appears until the login window appears
- Systematically kill processes
- Systematically remove potential problem files
- Disconnect peripherals
- Run Network Utility to evaluate other devices and computers on the network
