Performing Simple Editing Tasks in Contribute
Working with text and images in Contribute is similar to working with them in a word processor. You can make formatting choices using the toolbars and menus in Contribute, and in return, Contribute will convert your decisions into prope231 formatting to be rendered on the Web.In this section, you'll learn how to perform simple editing tasks in Contribute.Before learning how to edit a page in Contribute, you must return to the home page of the Dante site.
1. | Click the Edit Page button in the main menu to access Edit mode in Contribute. |
You'll notice that the main menu now contains a different set of options, which allow you to edit and format text and other commo227 objects. Because the site was constructed using a Dreamweaver template, Contribute recognizes and respects the blue borders surrounding the page's body text and heading.[View full size image]

2. | Under Assignments, change Flash 6 Player to Flash 8 Player. |
As in a word processor, when you want to change text in Contribute, you must first select the word or phrase you want to change, and then type the new text in its place.[View full size image]

3. | Under Assignments, make the text Flash 8 Player or higher bold by highlighting the text block and clicking the Bold button in the text formatting toolbar. |
You can also right-click (Windows) or Control-click (Macintosh) and select Bold from the contextual menu.[View full size image]

4. | Position your cursor at the end of the sentence under the Quiz section, right after the word knowledge, and press Enter/Return. Type the word Questions , press Enter/Return, and then type Contact your instructor if you have any questions about the unit. |

5. | Select the word Questions, and choose Heading 2 from the Style pop-up menu in the text formatting toolbar. |
When you made the connection to the Web site in Contribute, the CSS styles you defined in earlier chapters are made accessible to Contribute users, allowing them to modify the text using the same styles to maintain a consistent look. If the Style menu is not enabled, your Contribute administrator has restricted the site so that you can't apply these styles.
