Chapter 6: Building Enterprise JavaBeans in WebLogic Server
Chapters 7 and 8 walk through the development and deployment of an example EJB application to highlight related best practices.This chapter is not intended as a primer, introduction, or reference for EJB technology. Our primary emphasis is the EJB container in WebLogic Server and its unique features and capabilities. If you’re unfamiliar with the basics of EJB, we suggest you study Mastering Enterprise JavaBeans, 2nd Edition, by Ed Roman, Scott Ambler, and Tyler Jewel (John Wiley & Sons, 2001), a complete treatment of EJB technology. The book Enterprise JavaBeans, 3rd Edition, by Richard Monson-Haefel (O’Reilly & Associates, 2001) is another strong EJB reference.We begin by briefly reviewing some EJB terms and key concepts to support the discussions that follow. The second half of the chapter discusses EJB features that are specific to WebLogic Server.
