"The quest for knowledge is the duty of every Muslim."
Prophet Muhammad, Helping The Needy
One day a weak woman was carrying on her shoulders a big flask of water which
she was taking to her house.
Imam Ali (A. S.) saw her and realized that she was becoming tired. Ali went
over and offered to carry the flask for her.
On the way Imam Ali asked how she was.
The women replied, "My husband has passed away and I cannot support my children.
Imam Ali took the flask home for her and said good bye. He went to his house
and quickly returned with some flour for the woman and her children.
When he got to her house he saw that the children were crying from hunger.
He called their mother and said, "Take this flour and make some bread for
your children." He then went and made them quiet.
Their mother cooked some bread for them. They all ate till they were full.
After the children ate Imam Ali played with them till they became happy.
The son in law and cousin of the Prophet.
Imam Ali wanted to Leave the women's house while her children were full and
happy. Every few days or so Imam Ali would visit the women's house, asking
how she and the children were. He would also bring them whatever they wanted.
Imam Ali was kind to all children. He is one of our Imams (leaders). He was
the successor to Prophet Muhammad (P. B. U. H.).
Imam Ali (P. B. U. H.) guided the people after the Holy Prophet passed away.
We have twelve Imams in all. Ali was our first Imam.
Our first Imam, Ali (P. B. U. H.), was kind to all people and loved children.
We love our Imams and we obey their orders.
