beautiful works of allah
all things bright and beautiful,
all creatures great and small,
all things wise and wonderful,
allah has made them all.
each little flower that opens,
each little bird that sings,
he made their glowing colors,
he made their tiny wings.
the purple headed mountain,
the rivers running by,
the sunset and the morning,
that brighten up the sky.
all bring a certain message,
of his love to every creature,
each creature is an open page,
of his work the wonderful nature.
thanksgiving
one day farideh (a girl's name) said to her mother, "dear mother, every time
you want to eat food, you say:
bis millah' and after you finish your food, you say: al hamdu lillah.'
what are the meanings of these words?"
her mother answered, "dear daughter, 'bismillah' means: 'in the name of god'
and 'al-hamdu lillah' means: 'thank god"' farideh asked, "why do you mention
god's name and thank him?"
her mother replied, "because god has given us many good things. he has given
us eyes for seeing, ears for hearing, reason and intellect for understanding
what is good and bad."
"god has created water and air for us. god has created lots of sweet fruits,
and delicious foods for us. god has created many things for us."
we thank god for all the good things he has given us.
