This appendix lists the special characters available in both standard HTML versions and XHTML. Note that browser support of elements in Appendix C is based on testing in the following browser versions: Netscape 1.22, Netscape 2.02, Netscape 3.01, Netscape Communicator 4.0, Netscape Communicator 4.5, Netscape Communicator 4.73, Netscape 6.0, Netscape 7.01, Internet Explorer 3.02, Internet Explorer 4.0, Internet Explorer 5.0, Internet Explorer 5.5, Internet Explorer 6.0, Opera 4.02, Opera 5.0, Opera 6.2, Opera 7.0, and MSN TV's browser simulator. In the tables in this appendix, the following abbreviations are used for the different Netscape, Internet Explorer, and Opera versions:
