The DTDs
The rest of this appendix presents the Document Type Definitions for XHTML 1.0, starting with the transitional DTD, which is recommended for use in most Web documents. This is followed by the strict definition, which removes the presentational elements from markup in favor of CSS. The latest versions of these DTDs can be retrieved from the W3C:
