Foreword
Web services have always promised to be the dominating technology for information management within the enterprise and across the Internet. To date, their promise has not been fulfilled. A major reason for this was the changing security landscape. Many enterprises and individuals were afraid to expose their valuable data property to the outside world through standard interfaces. Without a good security model, Web services would be little more than curiosities, or at best mechanisms to be used within the firewall for application integration.
Recent advances in standards bodies and tool offerings are making secure and reliable Web services easier than ever to develop. This book will step you through what it takes to build and secure your Web services using Visual Studio.NET. It should be a fun and valuable journey.
