Inserting a Diagram

All diagrams start out the same way. You insert them on the slide as with any other type of content. That means you can use a diagram placeholder on a layout or you can insert the diagram manually.


To use a placeholder, start with a slide that contains a layout with a diagram placeholder, or change the current slide's layout to one that does, and then click the Diagram icon in the placeholder.

To insert the diagram manually, you can use either of these methods:



Click the Diagram button on the Drawing toolbar.



Choose Insert⇨Diagram.



Any way you start it, the Diagram Gallery dialog box opens, as shown in Figure 10-7. Select one of the six diagram types, click OK, and a diagram appears. From there it's just a matter of customizing.

When a diagram is selected, the Diagram toolbar appears. Some of the buttons are different depending on the diagram type; we'll look at the specifics in the following sections, where appropriate.
