Chapter 11), you can introduce the chart all at once or you can set up some animation effects for it. You can make the chart appear by series (that is, broken down by legend entries), by category (broken down by X-axis points), or by individual elements in a series or category. Figures 13-25 and 13-26 show progressions based on series and category so you can see the difference.

Figure 13-26: In this progression, the chart is appearing by category.
To animate a chart, follow these steps:
Display the slide containing the chart in Normal view, and display the Custom Animation task pane.
Animate the chart with an entrance effect (your choice). See Figure 13-27.
In the task pane, click the Chart animation, open its menu, and choose Effect Options.
Click the Chart Animation tab.
Open the Group Chart drop-down list and choose how you want the chart animated (see Figure 13-28).
Note | Some effects cannot be used to animate the parts of a chart separately; if that's the case for the effect you chose in step 2, you will not have any options except As One Object on the Group Chart list in step 5. If that happens, go back to step 2 and choose a different effect. |
Click OK. Then, in the task pane click the double down-pointing arrow to expand the listing of animated elements. Notice that each part of the chart (each category or series, depending on your earlier choice) is its own entry in the list of animations (see Figure 13-29).
