Playing Macromedia Director Content in PowerPoint
Macromedia Director content does not import directly into PowerPoint, but you can insert it as an ActiveX control. Here's how to do it:Update your Director control at www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1-Prod-Version=Shockwave.
In Director, output the file in DCR format, in the same folder as the PowerPoint presentation file.
In PowerPoint, display the Control Toolbox toolbar.
Click More Controls.
Choose Shockwave ActiveX. Draw a box where you want the content to be placed.
Right-click the box and choose Properties.
In the SC box, type the name of the DCR file. (It's an absolute path so you will need to update it later if you move the presentation.)
Tip | Need to go the other way and put PowerPoint content into director? Warning: it's not easy.Director version 6.5 and higher has an Xtra (add-in) that imports PowerPoint files into Director. However, it accepts only PowerPoint version 4.0 files, and PowerPoint 2003 does not save to that format. Therefore you have to save in PowerPoint 97 format, then open the file in a copy of PowerPoint 97 and save to PowerPoint 4.0 format. You can also set up a script in your Director file that runs the PowerPoint viewer and uses it to run a presentation in a separate space. You could create a Director front-end that runs multiple presentations interactively as the user clicks them.
