Exam Essentials


Know the different types of authentication protocols. Make sure you know the circumstances under which LAN Manager, NTLM, NTLMv2, and Kerberos should be used as well as the strengths and weaknesses of each.

Make sure you are comfortable with the different trust types. You should understand which trusts are more secure than others as well as when to use each one. You’ll need to know which trusts are one and which are two way as well as which are transitive. Finally, know when it is appropriate to create an external trust.

Know the common vulnerabilities of accounts and how to defend against them. You should be able to recognize the common account vulnerabilities, such as weak passwords and excessive permissions.

Know how to design secure password policies. Password policies should include requiring strong passwords. Setting the various password policies can increase the security of the account.
