Creating End Signs

Here's another trick involving horizontal rules: By manipulating the width and size attributes, you can create boxes to position at the end of a section of text, much like a magazine signs off with an end sign, or a special character or bullet at the end of an article. See Figure 54.3 for an example.

To create a box, set the width and size of the horizontal rule to the same amount:

Specify the noshade attribute to make the box solid, or leave the noshade attribute out to make the box hollow. Notice in Figure 54.3 that the hollow box looks clickable because of the shading's 3D effect, so watch out. You're probably better off using solid boxes for end signs.
