Summary
In this chapter we have given you a brief overview of the subject of extranets. We defined an extranet as: facilitating communication and transactions between groups both internal as well as external to your company. We learned that the most important factor is that, from a technological point of view, extranets almost identical to an intranet, but that it requires a slightly different way of thinking. We then covered various issues that are important to take into account when developing an extranet, including: standards, application integration, and project planning.
