Magnify the icons in the Dock

You might like to make the icons enlarge as your mouse rolls over them. This is useful if you like to keep the Dock rather small but you want the icons to be bigger when necessary, or if you end up with so many items in your Dock that everything becomes very tiny. As you can see below, just the icons your mouse rolls over become temporarily bigger (the pointer below is on the Safari icon).

When "Magnification" is on, the Dock icons grow as you run your mouse over them.

1.

With your mouse, take the pointer up to the Apple menu, the blue apple in the top-left corner of your screen.

2.

Single-click on the blue apple to display the Apple menu.

3.

Slide down to "Dock," then slide out to the right and single-click on the option to "Turn Magnification On." The menu will automatically disappear after you do that.

It can be a little tricky to slide out to one of these submenus. Try to go straight across, staying inside the blue line.

4.

Now, down in the Dock, do not click the mouse button, but just slide the mouse over the icons in the Dock.

To turn off this feature, repeat the steps 13 above. The option to "Turn Magnification On" has changed into "Turn Magnification Off." Choose it.
