Page setup

You should get in the habit of checking the Page Setup command in the File menu. Page Setup opens a dialog box where you can set specifications for printing the documentuse these in conjunction with the individual Print dialog box specifications, as shown on the following pages. Below are sample Page Setup boxes, but your particular application may have added other features of its own.

Paper Size:
This refers to the size of the paper that the document will be printed on, not the size of the page you are typing on. For instance, you might be creating a business card, but you can't put paper sized 2 x 3.5 through your printerusually, the cards will be printed on regular letter-sized paper. If you have other-sized paper to use, choose it from this menu.

Orientation:
The Mac wants to know if the document should print normal (8.5 x 11) or sideways (11 x 8.5); also known as Tall or Wide, Portrait or Landscape.

Scale:
Enter a number here to enlarge or reduce the printed page. For instance, enter 50% to print your work at half size. Remember, half of an 8.5 x 11 is 4.25 x 5.5you must halve both directions. On paper, this looks like the image is ¼ the original size; it isn'tit's half of both the horizontal and the vertical.

Reducing an image reduces it in both directions, not just one.
