Customizing Sherlock
There are a number of ways you can customize Sherlock so it works the way you want it to. Make your own collections of channels, customize the toolbar, and add channels to the Channels menu. This part of the chapter explains how.
Tip- You cannot modify the Apple Channels or Other Channels collections.
To move or copy a channel from one collection to another
| 1. | Display the collection in which the channel you want to move or copy appears. |
| 2. | Drag the channel name from the channel list to the name of the collection you want to move or copy it to (Figure 45 ). The channel appears in that collection list.Figure 45. Drag a channel from one collection to another to move or copy it.[View full size image]  |
Tips- Dragging a channel from the Apple Channels or Other Channels collection copies the channel. Dragging a channel from any other collection list moves the channel.You can force a channel to be copied (rather than moved) by holding down
while dragging it to the destination collection.Modifying the Toolbar or Channels Menu collection automatically modifies the toolbar or Channels menu.To remove a channel from a collection
| 1. | Display the collection you want to modify. |
| 2. | Select the channel you want to remove. |
| 3. | Press  . The channel is removed from the collection. |
To customize the toolbar
Follow the instructions on the previous page and this page to add or remove channels in the Toolbar collection.Or

| 2. | To change toolbar icons, use any combination of the following techniques:

| 3. | To change the way icons are displayed on the toolbar, choose an option from the Show pop-up menu (Figure 48 ).Figure 48. The Show pop-up menu lets you specify how the toolbar should appear. |
| 4. | To display smaller icons, turn on the Use Small Size check box. |
| 5. | When you're finished making changes, click Done. |
Tip- It is not necessary to display the Customize Toolbar dialog sheet (Figure 47 ) to add channel buttons to the toolbar. Simply drag a channel from any list to the toolbar to add an icon for it.
To create a shortcut for a channel
| 1. | Open the channel you want to create a shortcut for. |
| 2. | Choose Channel > Make a Shortcut (Figure 3 ), or press  . |
| 3. | A dialog like the one in Figure 49 appears. Enter a name and choose a disk location for the shortcut file.Figure 49. Use a dialog like this one to name and save a channel shortcut. |
| 4. | Click Make. A shortcut file is saved in the location you specified with the name you entered (Figure 50 ).Figure 50. Here's what a shortcut for the Flights channel looks like. |
