As developers, we are always looking for tools that will allow us to do more with less. XDoclet and the webdoclet task bring this ability to servlets. Instead of writing the deployment descriptor ourselves and potentially making errors, we can use just a few simple tags within the source code of our servlet and let the system do all the work. Not only do we eliminate the chance of additional errors, we keep similar information together in a single file. In addition, we can now use webdoclet to build JSP custom tags as well as incorporate Eclipse into the mix of technologies.
