Best Practices

• Use the Export and Import feature to back up individual ISA elements so that they can be ported easily to other ISA servers.

• Back up the ISA configuration after making network changes, rule base changes, system policy changes, firewall policy changes, or admin rights changes.

• To facilitate restoring a server to its original configuration, it is recommended to back up the firewall configuration immediately after installation.

• Automate daily backups of ISA server by using a script that takes advantage of the FPC scripting object.
