The initial section quickly reviews techniques for handling security with Access database files. These are basic techniques, but they can be especially effective for specialized needs, such as using .mde files to secure VBA code. Three sections within the chapter focus on user-level security. User-level security traditionally has been one of the most robust means of authenticating database users and determining what they could do in a Jet database.
