Applying the Default Classic Filters

Classic filters also have a shortcut root keythe Effect Editor Menu button from which you can access the most commonly used non-Realtime filers. These filters are compressed into one menu button that displays its contents when you click the Effects Editor Menu button (Figure 9.27 ).

There are ten filters you can access from this button. The bottom three are the Realtime filters that you can access through their own buttons on the interface. They're included here only to allow you to use the workflow with which you feel most comfortable.

Chapter 7) and the title creation program, Title Deko (see Chapter 10), from this button.

To apply the 2D or 3D filter from the toolbar

1.

Select a clip on the Timeline by clicking it once.

2.

Click the Effects Editor button and select either the 2D Editor (Classic) or 3D Editor (Classic).

The filter applies to the clip you selected and the edit window opens automatically.

Once you exit the editor, the clip begins to render. See the "Rendering a Classic Filter" sidebar for details.

Rendering a Classic Filter

You must render all Classic filters before you can see them on the PC or through the MovieBox Pro or AGP Pro card from Pinnacle.

Once you've added a Classic filter to the Timeline and you've finished editing it, the slice above that filter goes red. Unless you have turned off background rendering, the slice immediately begins to render. The slice gradually changes from red to green, although some users may see the change occur only when rendering has finished. This is due to a technical limitation some machines have when working with Liquid Edition. During this render stage, you can still edit the Timeline.

If you want to disable background rendering, click the Render icon (Figure 9.28 ) in the Liquid Edition taskbar to open the Render View. Then click once on the Stop Rendering button (Figure 9.29 ). To restart the rendering, open the Render View again and click the Start Rendering button.
