Material Flow Performance
Usually initiated after the first two steps, the third part of the AS IS analysis is to assemble a material flow performance spreadsheet. The objective is to collect and analyze key SCOR Level Two metrics for each location.Supply chain metrics for Level Two (noted on metrics template, Tables 4-1a-c) include:
Supplier on-time and in-full
RM inventory days of supply at locations and in transit
Transportation cost, calculated by inbound
Backorder duration
Source lead-time, defined by actual and contractual agreements
Manufacturing Level Two metrics include:
Production schedule attainment or on-time shipment
RM, WIP, FG, and returns inventory days of supply, at locations, and in transit
Transportation cost, calculated by shipments between company locations
Manufacturing lead-time, defined by actual and system setups
Distribution center Level Two metrics include:
Order on-time shipment
RM, Returns, WIP, and FG inventory days of supply at locations and in transit
Transportation cost, calculated by outbound and returns
Backorder duration
Order drop-to-ship lead-time.
In Fowlers' case, the assembly of the freight payment detail and assembly of the material flow performance spreadsheet was homework for the rest of the week. The project team agreed that the workload for everyone would be greater in this phase than the SCORcard.
