Chapter 7. Making iContact

In many ways, Apple is a victim of its own success and history. How else can you explain the flood of "Is that all?!?" comments that followed the initial release of the world's finest portable music player? People expect great things from Apple, and even when Apple delivers those great thingssuch as the first iteration of the iPodthe many-headed aren't satisfied.

Apple's first major upgrade to the iPod softwareiPod Software 1.1 Updaterclearly demonstrated that Apple had further plans for the iPod. If iPod users desired more from their music players, Apple was willing to provide it in the form of a simple contact manager. If those users wanted to free space in their bandolier of gadgets by leaving the Palm device at home, fine. From this day forward, the iPod will display your contacts (and more, as you'll learn in this chapter).
