Ways of Winning in the Enterprise

Based on BearingPoint's experience, the following are summarized as critical success factors:

Project Management 101.

Basic techniques of cost and time management can enable success in the learning space as well. Identifying red flags, such as production or development challenges, and addressing those before they turn into major hurdles can save organizational waste and delays.

Prototype and test.

Any solution that is intended for learner use should be put through a pilot process and rigorous testing for quality assurance. A deliberate and planned approach to development can ensure high-quality user experience at full-scale deployment.

Learn to operate with speed.

Line functions and business units operate on a timeline independent of learning processes. The learning functions must adapt to market, product, process, and economic changes to remain relevant and valuable to internal customers.

Eighty percent today is better than 100 percent never.

For internal customers, the timing for skills development, assessment, and enhancement is often a concern. If fine-tuning learning solutions might risk missing a market window, the quality risk is the one worth taking. Meeting the deadline with a learning solution that meets most of the learner needs, yet on time, will often be more meaningful to the customer than a fully baked solution that arrives too late.
