Case Summary


Using a competency-development process, the Cisco sales organization launched a portal called MyDevelopment that measures the readiness of the sales force given current sales objectives. The tools help to assess each salesperson's individual strengths and weaknesses with respect to her targets and offers targeted learning plans. MyDevelopment provides a formal approach for creating an individualized learning model based on need for each employee in the sales organization.

The synthesis of e-communication, e-training, and e-assessment tools for employee development can be planned and measured through an automated process for managing individual productivity. Cisco sought a process for individuals to administer and control their learning by tying it to skills, with success metrics. The answer: MyDevelopment.

The MyDevelopment tool created by the Cisco sales force development team demonstrates the use of a web-based tool that helps tie productivity improvement efforts with the sales planning process to achieve targeted learning.
