Merger Relied on Talent

The cost savings and the synergy of a combined network hinged on successful integration. The savings had to be realized within two years after the merger. Because the former Equant and Global One networks were based on a combination of Nortel and Cisco technologies meant that the integration had to be accomplished by engineers who were well versed with not only Cisco solutions, but also with IP technologies.

The engineers needed to ensure that the diverse and disparate networks acted as one. The features of each network were not only to be preserved, but also delivered across the new, combined network. With the fate of the merger depending on successful integration, Equant needed qualified engineers who could demonstrate credentials that were necessary for bringing about the integration and ensuring that the project did not experience cost and time overruns.
