Perquisite, Prerequisite
Examining the root and prefix carefully will tell you which of these terms means "required before." The other term means "a payment or benefit that is made in addition to regular wages." Read the following examples and then answer the preview questions.

A prerequisite is something that is required before something else can happen. A perquisite (or "perq") is an extra benefit or payment.
