Creating a New Document for Video with Auto Guides

When you work in video production, you know the importance of creating documents that will perfectly match the requirements of output to a video screen. The preset file sizes available in the new Preset menu let you create images at a size and pixel aspect ratio that compensate for scaling when you incorporate them into video. The presets also define, using non-printing guides, (the action and title areas of the document). When you work with the new Preset menu, the guesswork of creating compatible, NTSC, PAL, or even HDTV documents in Photoshop is a thing of the past.

Create a New Document Using Video Presets

Click the

File menu, and then click

New .

Click the

Preset list arrow, and then select from the available video presets:

• NTSC DV 720x480 (with guides)

• NTSC DV Widescreen, 720x480 (with guides)

• NTSC D1 720x486 (with guides)

• NTSC D1 Square Pix, 720x540 (with guides)

• PAL D1/DV, 720x576 (with guides)

• PAL D1/DV Square Pix, 768x576 (with guides)

• PAL D1/DV Widescreen, 720x576 (with guides)

• HDTV, 1280x720 (with guides)

• HDTV, 1440x1080 anamorphic (with guides) ()

• HDTV, 1920x1080 (with guides)
