AutoCorrect Options

The AutoCorrect feature minimizes the problems that occur when you rename tables, fields, queries, forms, reports, text boxes, or other controls. You enable AutoCorrect on the General tab of Tools, Options (see Figure 9.27).

You can enable AutoCorrect at one of three levels:

  • Track Name Changes Access simply keeps track of the name changes. It does not fix errors caused by renaming.

  • Track Changes and Automatically Fix Errors Access keeps track of changes and fixes all changes as they are made.

  • Track Changes, Fix Errors, and Maintain a Log of Changes In addition to tracking changes and fixing errors, this option provides you with a table that logs all changes made to the names of objects (see Figure 9.28).

Figure 9.28. The Name AutoCorrect Log Table provides you with information about every name change made within the database.
