TCP/IP

(Transport Control Protocol/Internet Protocol)

The primary networking protocol used to communicate over the Internet.

Telnet

Program used to log in to another computer over a TCP/IP network, execute commands on the remote computer, and move files from one computer to another. It provides authentication, but not encryption of information.

thread

Information needed to serve a particular service request or set of instructions.

ticket

In a Kerberos authentication system, an embedded unique key that allows private information to be passed between parties.

TTL

(Time-to-Live)

The specified length of time that DNS information is stored in a cache. When a domain nameIP address pair has been cached longer than the TTL value, the entry is deleted from the name server's cache (but not from the primary DNS server).
