Although it is likely that some software and business method patents will be continue to be awarded in error, when the applicant does not disclose anything new, it is also likely that these will be quickly identified and invalidated by industry associations, corporations, and individuals. Nevertheless, because corporations have become more aggressive in patenting software innovations and asserting them, there will be a trend toward more uniform Web sites and perhaps fewer options for the consumer.
