Books

[Hatch+ 02] Hatch, Brian, James Lee, and George Kurtz. Hacking Linux Exposed. We think this is the best book on Linux security.

[McCarty 02] McCarty, Bill. Learning Red Hat Linux. Covers installing, configuring, and using Red Hat 7.2.

[Nemeth+ 01] Nemeth, Evi, Garth Snyder, Scott Seebass, and Trent R. Hein. Unix System Administration Handbook. The Bible. There is now a version of this book by a subset of the same authors specifically for Linux. We've just got our copy and haven't had a chance to look through it, but based on their previous work, we're sure it's good.

[Powers+ 02] Powers, Shelley, Jerry Peek, Tim O'Reilly, Mike Loukides, and Laurie Petrycki. Unix Power Tools. All the tricks.

[Siever+ 00] Siever, Ellen (Ed.), with Jessica P. Hekman, Stephen Figgins, and Stephen Spainhour. Linux in a Nutshell: A Desktop Quick Reference, Third Edition. A good reference for all things Linux.

[Torvalds+ 01] Torvalds, Linus, and David Diamond. Just for Fun: The Story of an Accidental Revolutionary.

[Welsh+ 99] Welsh, Matt, Matthias Kalle Dalheimer, Lar Kaufman, and Matthew Welsh. Running Linux, Third Edition. A guide to installing, configuring, and using Linux.
