14.5 Summary
Direct integration between mobile devices and backend databases enables real-time data access over the air. It is essential for time-sensitive data and is complementary to the synchronization architecture. In this chapter, we discussed several approaches to access backend databases from J2ME devices. In particular, we focused on the end-to-end solution provided by Data Representations' Simplicity IDE. The IDE provides tools to integrate J2ME clients with mainframe applications as well as normal relational databases. |
