Chapter 2: Working with Templates and Color Schemes

Overview

IN THIS CHAPTER

What a template provides

Creating a new presentation based on a template

Applying a template to an existing presentation

Understanding and changing template file locations

Working with color schemes

Creating your own templates

Ideas for effective templates

The Template controls the overall look and feel of a presentation-background, colors, fonts, object placement, and so on. PowerPoint comes with a lot of templates to choose from, and you can also get them from other sources (like the CD with this book!) or create your own. Or do without one altogether, if that suits your purposes.

In this chapter, you'll learn what a template consists of, and how to apply one to a presentation. Each template has at least one color scheme, so next we'll look at how color schemes simplify the process of selecting colors for a presentation, and you'll learn how to apply, modify, and create color schemes. The chapter winds up by looking at ways to create your own templates.
