Photoshop ships with many libraries — such as brushes, styles, and gradients — that aren’t automatically loaded into the appropriate palette or picker. Adding and using these libraries while working in Photoshop can really enhance your ability to modify images and effects. In addition, many Photoshop artists have created custom libraries that are available on the Web. Downloading these libraries and using them in Photoshop is easy and fun.
This technique takes you through the ins and outs of loading libraries by using palettes and pickers. I reveal how the Preset Manager — the ultimate Photoshop library clearinghouse — loads and even creates libraries. Also, I list a few Web sites that offer libraries for download to get you started. From there, you can use your favorite Web search engine, such as Google, Yahoo!, or AltaVista, to quickly find more.
