Chapter 6

Secure Server Publishing

About This Chapter

If your network contains servers that publish to the Internet, such as Web servers, File Transfer Protocol (FTP) servers, or database servers, you need to allow external clients access to those servers without compromising the security of your network. With Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server (ISA Server), you can publish such servers securely because external requests are handled by ISA Server on behalf of internal network servers. ISA Server can then forward the requests securely to the network servers as appropriate. Requests to internal servers that are not explicitly allowed by ISA Server are dropped by default.
