20.4 HTTP PROXY AGENT

It is now possible to manage important business resources that reside outside the firewall such as web servers, transaction servers, and others with the OpenView HTTPS-based agent. This proxy agent, also called the OpenView communication broker (ovbbccb) agent, is based upon well-known Web security technology such as

Secure Socket Layer (SSL) ,

Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP), Proxies, and HTTP. Communication in the HTTPS-based environment provides single-port (383 by default) out-of-the-box Internet security. The security model is based on SSL/PKI encryption and server and client certificates for authentication.

Implement the HTTP-based agents from the management server automatic distribution via the GUI or transfer the package software to the managed node. Configure the certificates for secure agent/server network communication using SSL after the agent software is installed. The certificate configuration is built in to the GUI. Refer to the

OpenView Operations HTTPS Agent Concepts and Configuration Guide for implementation details.
