The default status polling (ping) interval for all nodes is once every fifteen minutes.Chapter 5, "Network Discovery," the netmon polling statistics allow you to determine whether the management station is adequately able to poll the managed devices. Select from the menu bar
Performance
Seconds Until Next Status Poll consistently has a negative value,
netmon is not adequately able to poll the managed devices. If your management station is unable to sufficiently poll all the devices at this frequency, you have several options:
[3] Prior to version 7, NNM used a status polling interval of five minutes.
Note
Earlier implementations of NNM define a five minute polling interval. Increasing the global polling interval to 15 minutes increases the number of devices a single NNM station can support because the station polls fewer devices per hour. However, a higher polling interval increases the time it takes to detect a node that has gone down. You may consider reducing the polling interval of mission critical devices. NNM 7 allows you to configure the polling intervals for classes of objects, such as routers or switches. Use the [Poll Objects…] button on the SNMP Configuration dialog box to configure class-based polling intervals.
Increase the polling interval for non-critical devices.
Reduce the number of devices being polled by using discovery filters.
Configure a collection station to reduce the number of systems being polled by a single management station.
You can modify
netmon 's polling frequency by selecting
