Chapter Summary

In this chapter, I lifted the covers off TCP/IP so that you could peek at what lies underneath. Specifically, I showed you the size and structure of the headers used by TCP, UDP, and IP. Each serves a different purpose, yet they all work together to support you and your networked applications' needs.

In Chapter 6, I put all these pieces into a more coherent order by showing you how they work together in the typical communications session.
