Introducing the Tiger Desktop

Our first stop is the Mac OS X Tiger Desktop (Figure 8.1 ). The figure shows the Mac mini that I used to write most of this book. Your Mac mini screen may look a little different.

The main elements of the Mac desktop include the Dock, which stretches across the bottom of the screen, and the menu bar, which spans the top. You also see the hard drive, which I have renamed so I can easily remember what it is.
