To create an Internet connection, we'll use Windows XP's New Connection Wizard. Be sure you have the account information given to you by your Internet service provider at hand. Creating a dial-up connection is easy, but creating a high-speed connection, such as DSL or cable modem, is much less obvious; windows refers to DSL as a broadband modem connection.
Here you'll create the most common type of DSL connection, one that requires a username and password.
The New Connection Wizard will appear.
In the next few screens that appear, type in your account information from your Internet service provider. Click Next after each dialog box, and click Finish in the last dialog. |
When you click Finish, the wizard disappears and your Internet connection is complete. You're now ready to hook up to the Internet.
