When a program or Windows itself terminates abnormally, a new XP feature lets you report the error to Microsoft over the internet (Figure 6.16 ). If enough people report the same error, then (one assumes) Microsoft will fix the bug or at least post a Knowledge Base article. Microsoft swears that only technical information is sent for purely technical purposesnot for marketing or license compliance. You can fine-tune error reporting or turn it off.
To configure error reporting:
1. Choose Start > Control Panel > Performance and Maintenance > System > Advanced tab > Error Reporting (Figure 6.17 ).

Press Windows logo key+Break; then choose Advanced tab > Error Reporting.
2. To turn off error reporting, select the Disable Error Reporting option.
or
To report errors, select the Enable Error Reporting option; then select the types of errors that you want to report.
3. Click OK in each open dialog box.
